Nah . . . this can never be a football school. They're going to live, and die, about basketball around here.

NCAA Denies Waiver
Tramain Hall Decision Made on Tuesday

Aug. 14, 2001

The NC State department of athletics has announced that the NCAA has denied the university's petition for a waiver of initial eligibility requirements for Tramain Hall, a decision that NC State will appeal. Academic privacy prohibits additional comment on the specifics of his case.

"We certainly regret the NCAA's decision," said head football coach Chuck Amato on Tuesday afternoon. "We are extremely disappointed because not only are we losing a great player, but a great person. Tramain has handled himself with class throughout this whole situation. We will exhaust every available possibility for an appeal, but whatever happens, we wish only the best for Tramain."

"I don't know my options, so my plans are uncertain at this point," said Hall. "My dream was to play football at NC State and I thought I had done everything I needed to do to pursue that dream."
